How to work out your hourly rate
How to work out an hourly or day rate that covers your income, your business costs and the hours you can't bill, with a worked example.
Getting your pricing right
Most small firms don't lose money on the big jobs. They lose it on the quote that left out the skip, the variation nobody wrote down, and the day rate that never covered the van, the insurance and the hours spent on paperwork in the evening.
Start with your hourly rate, worked out from what the business actually costs to run and how many hours you can really bill in a year. Then use the quote template for your trade so every quote says what's included, what isn't, how long the price stands and when you expect to be paid. If the customer asks for a rough figure first, give an estimate and say clearly that it isn't a fixed price.
Every guide here is free to read and copy. When you're ready to send quotes your customers can accept with one tap, DripLess does it for you.
