Questions
What should an electrical quote include?
Your details and scheme membership, the customer and site address, a quote number, date and valid-until date, the scope with makes and models, the certificates and Part P notification included, exclusions such as remedial work, the price with VAT if registered, payment terms and acceptance.
Should an electrical quote include the certificate?
Yes. Say which certificate the customer will get, an Electrical Installation Certificate or a Minor Works Certificate, and whether the work will be notified under Building Regulations.
How do you price faults found during testing?
State on the quote that existing faults found during testing will be reported and priced separately, so the customer isn't surprised.
Do electricians charge VAT on quotes?
Only if they're VAT registered. If you are, show the price before VAT, the VAT at the standard 20% rate, and the total.
